Artist History
Secondseed started in early 2000 with brothers, Jason and Danny Lassila and cousin, Erik Kikke writing instrumental music. They were later joined by bassist, Nick Pupich and Jake Skaggs, vocals, to create an early version of the band. Priorities became an issue and the band decided to search for another bassist and front man who had the same serious commitment toward the music as they had. Mike Ronning came to the band via a chance meeting with Erik Kikke one night as they both were attempting to buy scalped tickets to a TOOL concert. The band continued to write instrumental music and put Erik in charge of locating a voice. They decided to place an ad in the Illinois Entertainer magazine and tried out countless vocalists. At the same time, a friend of Jake’s had been to Chicago and brought a paper back with her to Iowa. Looking to relocate and to also find some seriously committed band members, Jake answered the ad. A jam time was set up and a Greyhound Bus ticket was bought. Sparks flew, the match was made and Secondseed was born on October 1, 2001. |
