Artist description
AFTER barely a year together, Yorkshire-based alternative rock outfit
Red:Shift have notched up more gigs than they can remember, nearly been
wiped out in a car crash (memo to self, get famous before getting dead),
supported everyone from much-tipped new Beggars' Banquet signings Biffy
Clyro, to crusty punk legends New Model Army, to UK hardcore heroes
Tribute To Nothing, and are currently spreading the word with gigs
around the UK. They have also headlined major events at York University
and the York Barbican Centre.
The band also found time to set up and run Northern gig-swapping website
www.gizagig.com - and one of them is nearly a Doctor of Anarchy (fact).
The band are Matt Fraser (vocals/guitar), David Martin (guitars), Sam
Clark (bass) and Wayne Miller (drums).
Collectively, they own more records than anyone in the world ever, and
take inspiration from everything from metal to dub reggae, but according
to what people keep telling them, sound closest to the post-punk sounds
of Joy Division/New Order, American punk/alternative heroes such as
Fugazi and post-rock melodic/noisy stuff such as Mogwai. Oh yes, and
they rock, big time. |
