Artist History
Keith Jennings a.k.a Ras Keith was born in Manhattan, NY on February 28, 1954. Adopted when he was 17 months old, he lived in Manhattan until the age of three, when he and his adopted Mother moved to Texas. He grew up in a small town called Yoakum, Texas, where he lived on a farm until the age of eleven. He and his mother moved to San Antonio, Texas, where he lived until going into the Military, at 18. He started playing guitar at the age of five. His main influence was the King, Elvis Presley. During his early years, Ras Keith learned to play the guitar, trumpet, keyboards and trombone. It wasn't until he was twenty-five and station overseas, in the Air Force in Misawas AFB, Japan, that he turned to the Bass guitar, which he has continued to play as his main instrument, to this day. His final goal was to teach himself drums, which he has most recently accomplished. Ras Keith was finally introduced to Reggae and the religion of Rastafari in 1988, and has not looked back since. Ras Keith is also the bassist for the Arizona based Reggae group, the Rastafarmers, which he co-founded with lead singer Ras Patrick Murillo, more than twelve years ago. |
