GWG is basically singer/songwriter Alina Simone
with the addition of occasional guest players.
GWG's compositions are comprised of folk, punk
and bare-bones, three-chord guitar rock shot
through with raw, sandblasted vocals. |

Artist History
Alina was born in Kharkov, Ukraine in 1974, grew
up in Massachusetts and moved to NYC from Austin,
Texas two years ago, where she sang on the street
under the abandoned awning of what is now Buffalo
Billiards. Her first band, Disfarmer, started
playing clubs in NYC in February of 2002. Since
then, GWG, (in various incarnations) has played:
Knitting Factory Main Stage, The Living Room, CB's
Gallery/Lounge, Club Luxx, and Elbow Room (among
other venues) and has shared bills with eclectic
local and touring bands/artists such as The Post
(secretly canadian), Barbez, Bee and Flower, Rebecca Moore, The
Dresden Dolls and jazz great, Daniel Carter.
