Artist History Jean Mazzei's first band was when she was in the 6th grade called the Sunrise 5. They played their biggest gig at the Coralville Jubilee in Coralville, Iowa. She finally decided to take the leap (hence the Flying part of Venus) and put together a slammin' band to perform her songs. No covers allowed. John Mazzei's smokin' solos combine rock and funk, laced with Herbie Hancock (check out Wild Heart Girl). Flying Venus plays the Bay Area and beyond. They've gigged with other cool artists including Bonnie Hayes (grammy award winning songwriter for Bonnie Raitt, Cher, Huey Lewis etc...), Wendy DeRosa, Amelia Ray, Liz Pisco, Acoustic Son, and Kenon Chen.
