Hailing from Los Angeles, Xavier grew up listening to the soul sounds of Sam Cooke, Motown, and James Brown from his mom's vast collection of 45's. But at the same time, the sounds of hip-hop were blooming into existence on radio stations like KDAY. Later, Xavier got deep into the sounds of John Coltrane, Miles Davis, and greats like organist Jimmy Smith. The result is here: a sublime blend of funk, jazz, hiphop, and soul.
