Artist description
SPORADIC GROOVE ASSOCIATION is a four-piece jam-band from St. Olaf College in Minnesota. Though similar in style to DMB, Phish, Grateful Dead, and other jam bands, Sporadic Groove Association has a sound and style of its own.
True to jam-band roots, every concert is unique; one song will not sound the same twice as each song contains extensive soloing by all members of the band. A cover may get thrown into a set or into a jam as well.

Artist History
The roots of the band began in 1997, when Tristan and Woody began doing some writing and recording in high school. When both graduated and moved on to St. Olaf, they began searching for additional members to add to the acoustic guitar and bass combo. Kenneth Knight III began playing with the band on violin after hearing an impromptu practice in 1999. Luke Nystrom was then added on drums. Reid Wixson was later added to the band on guitar and vocals, though in the spring of 2000 he added a saxophone to his arsenal of instruments. Sam Heiser began sitting in with the band on a slide didgeridoo in late 2001. In the spring of 2002, Kenny left the band for a semester in Costa Rica. Though now not an "official" member of the group, he still sits in on some songs.
The band operated under the moniker "Currently Nameless" until late 2001 when the name was changed to "Sporadic Groove Association", a name more consistent with the jam style of the band.
