    Artist History
In early Spring of 2000, three best friends Travis, Jared, and Josh were hanging out a Josh's house. They were bored and didn't know what to do. That's when Josh went to his room and came out with his dad's old acoustic guitar and starting playing "Come as You Are" by Nirvana. Jared was awed. Jared had been writing music on his computer for about three years, and was suddenly stuck by the awesome idea of writing music for the guitar. He spent a lot of time playing Josh's guitar, just trying to play Nirvana. He really sucked! He soon gave up on that idea. Travis didn't show the same enthusiasm at first, but often talked about buying his own guitar and learning to play. One day, to everyone's suprise, he did. Travis had a much nicer guitar(still acoustic) and the guys started hanging out at his house. Josh brought over his guitar and jammed out with Travis. Jared sat on the side and watched. It was time for Jared to get in on the action. In early May, Jared took his first trip to the local Guitar Center to check out what they had. What he found was one of the most amazing things he'd seen. Wall and floors full of electric guitars. Within a week of the first visit he had bought the cheepest humbucking guitar he could find...the Squier Fat Strat. (yee-haw). It was a piece of crap. With his own guitar Jared practiced rigorously and caught up with Josh and Travis in his skill level and soon got together with the guys so that he could start playing the guitar with them. Travis had already begun to write music and lyrics for his first song....."Fifty-Ounce Coke at Nine O'Clock", which was about meeting the right girl and then having to go pee, and when you come out of the bathroom she's gone. Josh became too busy to continue playing the guitar so it was just Travis and Jared left to play music. After about a week of Jared playing on the electric guitar, Jared and Travis decided that it was time for someone to get a bass. They decided that Travis would play the bass. Now they began to sound kind-of cool. They took a serious look at making a real song and with their combined efforts, Jared and Travis, failed miserably in their first attempt to write a decent song. They decided to learn how to play before they made any songs. About a month later they took a trip to Mississippi to go skiing. They brought their guitars along so that they could share ideas, and mess around. That's when Travis came up with the melody for "Anyone but You". It was the first cool guitar part that either of them had come up with. When they got back to League City they created the lyrics to "Anyone but You" and their first song was created just one month after buying their guitars. Two weeks after it's creation, they recorded it and mixed in some computerized drums to supply the beat. This was the pride and joy of the two friends. They only showed it to their closest friends, anticipating that they would get better. This was the beginning of No Preference. They temporarily named themselves Crappy 5-0, making fun of their immense skill level (not really). Soon after this they borowed a drummer for a day and played at a birthday party. They found a real drummer about a month later. His name was Sean. He was pretty good, and was a part of the band for about 2 1/2 months. When he quit, Travis and Jared continued to write songs. Several months later they ran across Trent. Trent was a masterful drummer. He actually knew what he was doing, and Jared and Travis were awed. The guys showed Trent some of their songs and he liked them. When they asked Trent if he wanted to be part of the band, he said yes, and they had finnaly found the missing element they'd been looking for.....a GOOD drummer!!! Once with Trent, Jared and Travis worked on their songwritting, and wrote songs such as "Until Tomorrow" (Travis), "Stuck With Who We Are" (Jared), "Boxershorts Song" (Travis)"Blue" (Jared) and about 20 others. After a year and a half, Trent quit, and the search for a drummer continued. They immediately turned to their good friend Robe (Robbie) Cammack. Robe had a good handle on music, and learned quickly how to use more advanced drumming skills and techniques while adding a style all of his own to Travis' and Jared's songs. Reed Wylmon has also joined the band as a second guitarist in recent days. So this is where they are now. Re-learning their old songs and writing new ones with Robe. Everything has been set back a while for No Preference, but things are looking up.
