Artist description
Genres, styles, influences. Generic terms to classify types of music. In some cases the influences and genres are too narrow to denfine an artist.
Al Silveira is a singer/songwriter from Aptos, Ca. Brought up on Hard Rock, 50's and 60's rock, big bands, and Metal, he started playing guitar at age 8, singing as soon as he could make sound. In 1998, Al recorded what would become his first album, "Echoes", which through many bands and shows later, was finally released in April, 2001. Songs like "Echoes", and "Before I Awaken", showed his Rock and Metal roots, while tracks like "Alone" showed a mellower, more somber side.
In 2002, Al has written a new set of songs, with no real set direction in mind, just to write great songs without genre, without a certain "influence" in mind. The influences have changed too; before it was Black Sabbath and Alice In Chains, now it's everything from Jeff Buckley, Beck, to King's X and Slayer. And the new music reflects that, from heavy moments like "That Fall", to mellower songs like "I'll Be". Now backed by Tim Davis on drums and Backing Vocals, and former Refuse bandmate Leon Marcelis on bass, things are looking promising now with such a talented band.
Sometimes it's better to just follow the song and the way it makes you feel than to follow genres, styles, or current trends. Sometimes it's just about Music.
