Artist History
STEELTOE 1996 - 2000
Founded on philosophies and principles of integrity, coupled with the iron will to destroy the twisted ways of the corrupt, Steeltoe writes ORIGINAL FUCKING GRINDROCK!!! They are leading more than just a fanbase. Steeltoe have created The Clique, which is comprised of individuals who share like-minded views of respect and integrity. Steeltoe's style of grindrock melds simple and technical riffing, slow to grind tempos, with brutal, yet diverse vocals as they navigate their sound through many areas of extreme metal. Formed in '96, hailing from Salina, KS, Steeltoe wasted no time securing their place at the top of their local scene. Originally a three-piece, they began playing mid-year '97. Their powerful and unforgettable live shows quickly opened the doors of opportunity to perform with the likes of Snot, Bongzilla, Hed(pe), Six Feet Under, Dying Fetus, Meat Jack, Face of Anger, and Drowning Pool. 1998 saw the release of their first recording, a five song CD entitled "Click", and the securing of underground distribution, radio airplay, and many contacts. 2002 sees the release of SteelToe's sophmore effort "Engrained Within the Sinews of the Mind", which contains an even more diverse collection of music. SteelToe has created an international response, via heavy promotion through underground fanzines and the world wide web. In 1999 the members of Steeltoe went their seperate ways. Since then, Jason released the death metal album, Dimensions of Horror in 2002, and also plays in the progressive metal band, Three Seconds to Infinity with Steve. Jarrod now sings for Broken Bone Coalition, out of Manhatten, KS.

Press Reviews
I fucking laughed my ass off when I first sasw this CD cover. Excellent job guys! This trio out of Kansas play a mixture of grind, groove, thrash, and punk. They kinda have a sound similar to FORCED ENTRY. Of the five songs on this disc, "Mindset" and "The Daily Grind" were my favorites. Every song sounds different and has it's own identity so you definitely won't get bored. It was recorded at the famous Red House studios so you know the production is good. If you are into solid metal with a bit of humor then STEELTOE is a must have. (Chuck)

Kansas-bred death metal band, Steeltoe, lugged their equipment all the way to Arlington to play the Sanctuary. The Sunflower State doesn't exactly seem like a place for this style of music, but hey! Jason Tackett (guitar/vocals) grinded out death-style vocals intertwined with actual singing, as Steve Frank (guitar), Jeff Light (bass/vocals) and Jarrod Sawyer (drums) backed the hardcore music. The band is actually more than straightforward death since they also fuse thrash and punk. SteelToe drew a good crowd in front of the stage as the enthused members played their asses off. You'll definitely get kicked in the head by SteelToe, and three words of advice: Don't f#*kin'"Snitch."

The cover art of Click, an amusing spiff of Nestle's Quick packaging, lures you in with a shy, playful smile. Then when opening track "Mindset" fires off, BOOM! Your headless corpse hits the floor with a lifeless thud.
Man, there must be something in the water up there in Kansas. SteelToe, like their cornhusker brethren, Gryn, specialize in the type of grindcore that leaves you in an absolute daze. Jason(guitar, vox), Jeff(bass, vox), and Jarrod deliver a punch not felt in hardcore music since the first SOD record.
Highlight track,"Snitch", picks up where SOD left off with "Milk" and "Chromatic Death." Speed, anger, power and aggression with a sense of humor. What more could you ask for? Witness the SteelToe onslaught for yourself on May 29 at the Dirty Perch in Arlington. (Kevin White)

I was fairly impressed by this trio. They play a very unique mix of not really death, not really thrash, and not really any other style either, but somewhere between thrash and death is were thier sound is.Maybe a cross between Forced Entry,D.R.I. and another band who escapes me."Snitch"ismy favorite of the 5 on the CD,due to it's rythms wich are simple yet very catchy and heavy. The vocals bounce around as much as the music and you can't really call them this or that.If you're looking for some hard to classify aggressive music, give these guys a shot, you might like it.

STEELTOE - CLICK
The cover of this CD is a parody of a Nestle's "Quick" box, but instead of the rabbit holding chocolate milk, he is holding a colorful psychadelic beverage of some sort. Don't let this lighthearted cover fool you though, this is some heavy freakin' music guaranteed to have you moshing through your house in no time. The band's basic foundation seems to be in death metal, but they expand on it, and add hardcore and thrash characteristics to it as well. The guitarist lays down some MASSIVELY heavy crunch chords, some grind riffs, and a few note oriented riffs as well. Vocalist/guitarist Jason has a powerful death roar, but also lapses into midrange, gruff yells many times. He keeps his style dynamic. The drummer keeps the fluctuating rythyms and the time changes bolted down, and adds blast beats, double bass runs, and fills when needed. This disc was produced and packaged very well, with full color layout, pics, and lyrics. This band wants to get involved and expand more into the underground, so all you freaks write em'!!
