    Artist History
Fughu was born in January 1998, but at that time it was called Sector 7-g (Homer Simpson´s sector in the Nuclear Plant). The idea of the band was to mix several music styles, from progressive rock/metal to jazz, fusion, salsa, folcklore. The band was: Mariano Cañas - bass, Damián Olivera - vocals, Ariel Bellizio - guitars, Marco Gnoatto - keyboards and Alejandro López - drums. Due to different ideas, the band suffered a few changes. Damian and Mariano Cañas decided to leave. So the band started to look for replacement. First, we called a bass player named Matías (Venier). We knew him because he had played with Alejandro and Marco before in a different group. As he was too busy with another band, we remebered a bass player named Mariano Iezzi. He had recorded our first demo. In that time he was studying in a studio and he needed a band. We knew that he liked our songs so we called him. He prepared a few songs, and a few weeks later he joined the band. So we started looking for a singer. We wanted someone who could sing from the hardest metal parts to the softest parts. After testing several singers, Sebastián came. He was exactly what we were looking for. He was a great singer with a very opened minded and he was a great guy too. So after one or 2 rehearsals, we asked him to join the band. A few months later, after having problems with Mariano Iezzi we decided to find a new bass player. The band was stopped again. We inmediately called Matías. This time he could do it. He came, played and that was it. With this last change, the band defenitive turn into another label. Nowdays we are trying to recorded a demo and most of all, we are trying to show our music to the world.

Taken from proglands.com: This pre-demo CD is really sounding as the DREAM THEATER music, I know that Sebastian's band idol is DT but as Sebas say into the biography that they also added some Jazz, Salsa and Folk. Ok but all time for a short time, these ingredients well can be heard easily because they were not really mixed but on side of the longer metal parts. 'Get me Inside' is really sounding as the DT period of the 'A change of seasons' CD especially for the drum sounding, also for the vocals (but with a bit lower tone rendering) and the composition. You could see the video of the song recorded in their rehearsal room. 'Last chance' contain a 2 minutes of Jazz and Blues in the middle of the song, sometime with a funky bass playing and ending as they start with a soft and loving like DT song. This is the longer song of the Demo. The next 2 songs are recorded from rehearsals and the last 2 songs are from a live recording. I like 'Vueve musa' for his more progressive appraoch on some short moments. The live songs are a bit less sounding as DT but the songs are all in the same vein and let me no choice, the best description that I can give to the band is 'Argentinian's answer to DT'. Good sound quality on the Demo even if they recorded some live material. Marvellous band for any fans of DT and his related music. Great rendering from the guys too. They are searching for somebody to produced their CD. Denis_t (c) Jan 2003 Proglands.com, All right reserved
