Artist History
It took years of broadening eachothers tastes in music before Jan Kuipers & Jos Witsenburg, former chemistry students, started making music together.
Both were active in music on their own right: Jan composing & Jos in rockgroups.
Jan & Jos signed up for Workshop Soundscape Amsterdam in 1995 (VPRO, NPS, Gaudeamus, IJsbreker, CEM studio's).
They extended the original assignement by crossing the traditional non-music border of soundscape-art.
Right after that Jan & Jos started making popmusic.
4 years were spent inventing a new mix of composed music & rock 'n' roll.
'Lunar escape velocity' (2001) is the unhip endresult of this period of frank exploration and fun.
At this point, a bunch of musicians had gathered around them and they formed the skilled & dedicated group Fluxury. currently the band is working on new songs, prepared specially for these capable hands.
the term 'Fluxury' stems from a poem by Jos about observing nature.
It turned into a central song on 'Lunar escape velocity'.
It's about the miraculous emergence of structure in a chaotic universe. |
