Artist History
Formed in 1997 as a performance ensemble for Phi Mu Alpha fraternity recitals in Clarion, PA, the three principal organizers of the performances continued writing new material after graduation. Although living in 3 different states virtually throughout the entire existence of the band, The Tangent managed to get together whenever possible if not just to experiment with arranging and making music. The summer of 2001 was the most productive for the group with each member penning at least 3 new songs and working out arrangements. By the end of the summer The Tangent felt they had enough quality material and musicianship to begin work on an official album, and play gigs around Pittsburgh in support of it. The Tangent are currently working on this first album, completing 5 songs in May. They plan on recording more when the time and money present themselves. Look for performances scheduled in and around the Pittsburgh area. The group are also looking for performance opportunities around central Ohio and the "southern tier" of New York State. |
