Artist History
The concept behind The Dream Is Dead has been in the works since the beginning of 2000. Clark Giles (vocals) and Jason McCash (bass) wanted to do a project band that put back into the Hardcore scene what made us love it so back in the day. At the time however the two founders couldn't find time to do the band because of other arrangements. However, through putting a sense of urgency on this project, they found the other half of the band. Jared Southwick (guitar) and Alex Bond (drums).
The line up was completed at the beginning of September 2001 and the band began working on their first CDEP "Letter of Resignation" (What Else Records). Through the next couple of months the band did many weekend dates to establish themselves in the Midwest. They did shows with Premonitions of War, Creation is Crucifixion, Pg. 99, Kalibas, and the Parallax View.
In the Spring of 2002, they went into Azmyth Studios (Love Lost but Not Forgotten, Majhas) to record for two CDEP's "Letter of Resignation" (What Else Records) and "Taking Friendly Fire" (Escape Artist Records-not available yet) and finished a split with California's Find Him and Kill Him which is a limited 500 press 7" vinyl.
The band in June of 2002 went on its first tour with label mates Anodyne for two full weeks. Hitting every town between Chicago and Boston and leaving a trail of destruction in their wake. Several weeks after the tour TDID played several key shows. A release show for their CDEP "Letter of Resignation" and was a part of the More Than Music Festival.
After these dates a change took place in the personel area. Due to personal differences, Alex Bond bowed out of the band and was replaced by local skinsman Dustin Boltjes. The wolf pack is stronger than ever now and with this new addition new material is being written as this is being typed.
In August of that same summer the band went to California to do a week long tour with Find Him and Kill Him in support of their split 7"
In the future the band also has plans to do a Split 7" with Toledo earthmovers Premonitions of War that will be released on Happy Couples Never Last.
