Artist description
Long Strange Day
is an all original power rock band
with the raw energy that easily competes
with the hard rock bands of today,
while setting the bar higher
and adding a new dimension to today's
music scene.
There sound is a blend of raw muscle
with overtones of early metal
and today's industry hum.
From the thick melodic bottom end
and punchy rhythms,
to the heavy vocals and moody lyrics,
Long Strange Day is definitely
something to experience.

Artist History
Long Strange Day began in the summer of 2001 when
Bill Mason met Noah Prescott through an internet ad.
Both were looking to put together a hard rock band
that would have the power to match the sound of the
modern rock groups of today, but also mix in the melodic
quality and adventurism of 70’s album rock. Noah
brought in Casey Crews, a young up and coming southern rock
guitarist he had worked with in the past. After a
brief search, the three added drummer Leon Green
to fill out the line up with his powerful classic
metal stylings.
They began writing songs and rehearsing in Bill’s
living room. Bill also brought to the table material
he had written over the previous twenty plus years.
The style that emerged has been compared to Stone Temple Pilots,
The Doors and Led Zeppelin. Before long the band
realized that the complex arrangements required an
additional musician. Bill contacted old friend Ross Bogert,
who agreed to join. Ross guitar work and excellent
vocal skills propelled the music to a new level and
the group was optimistic about their direction.
But the dynamic of the band had changed and soon
differences surfaced, causing Noah to part ways
with the group.
Continuing as a four piece, the band began to play gigs.
Their powerful sound and stage presence immediately
attracted a devoted following. Then, to everyone’s
surprise, Ross left the band. Personal troubles
had made his continuing impossible. Long Strange Day
played gigs as a three piece while holding auditions
for a new guitarist. They found one in Ken McAnlis.
Ken’s background was mainly in power pop and indie rock,
but he was also a big fan of 70’s album rock. Ken's
more melodic approach combined with the band's already
darker sound gave the group an expanded musical horizon.
The new lineup practiced for a few weeks and then
went into the studio to cut their first EP "Seams of Reality".
Released in early June 2002, the disc has been very
popular with fans and has brought industry attention
to Long Strange Day. In October of 2002 LSD was invited
to play at the "2002 New Music Conference" in Nashville
Tennessee. While there the band made many viable contacts
and left a strong impression on the fans at the show. Just
as the wheels began to turn for the band, conflict would
see the firing of Leon Green, and soon after Casey Crews would
have to bow out as well do to unavoidable personal
responsibilities. During the next few months Bill and Ken continued to write new material and search for the newest members of the band. They finally found their drummer in mid December of 2002. An old friend and former band mate of Bills, Troy Holley is an experienced and able all around musician. Troy brought to the band strong percussion, harmony vocals and the ability to write and arrange music. Again as a three piece, LSD will move forward and rebuild their sound and will continue their search for the fourth member of the band.

Long Strange Day's newest is awesome! Powerful, driven, dynamic and unexpected--it's thoughtful but never oppressive. It's about time someone played music like this around here.--
