Artist History
Starting out as a B-Boy in Oakland, CA in the early-80's Aybee
(a-b) started producing beats in his bedroom.
While keeping music a close personal hobby for years, Aybee's creative fire got lit again in the late 90's turning his creative attention to electronic music.
Filled with creative inspiration Aybee founded Deepblak Recordings in the fall of 2001 with the goal of redefining the inner city with a new sound.
Drawing inspiration from an infinite amount of sources Aybee lists Quincy Jones as his benchmark. " What Quincy brought to Black Music was incredible", says Aybee. He has never limited himself. To come out of Be-Bop, and Movie Scores to produce the Brothers Johnson & Michael Jackson's first project was, and still is unbelievable. Aybee also lists the Detroit Techno pioneers as a major inspiration. "Those brothas laid down the blueprint for urban soul that's left of center", says Aybee. They defined themselves and created something in the process.
