Artist History
Zans Protocol was formed in the spring of 2001 by Jordan Kolenc and Alex Traboulsi who had previously been in a band together. Jordan asked his friend Max Evert, a former band mate from a different band than the one with Traboulsi, to play drums for the band, and Alex asked a good friend Devon Drosdeck, also a former band mate but not of the band with Kolenc, to play bass. All of the members had previously played music with other members, but not all together. With every member having a distinct taste in music, the collision of Kolenc and Traboulsi's punk/hardcore taste, with the indy rock taste of Drosdeck and the jazzy and complex beats of Evert proved to be a blast of original sound. When asked what the band sounded like members were reluctant to compare it to anything, because of the different styles in each of the songs. ZP played through 2001 and into 2002 @ Peabody's and other local events, before each of the members took seperate roots and went off to school in different parts of the country. Also before the seperation, the band had a radio spot as local talent of the week in July of 2001 on 88.7 WJCU. All members are still great friends and still speak on a regular basis. Evert curently plays in a band called Somewhere in the Grey, based in Chicago, and another project is in the works between Kolenc and Traboulsi.
