    Artist History
The guys used to play in a lot of underground bands like Mournful, Berserk and Metempsychosis but decided to start a new band with the best musicians from each band. In the autumn 1996, Martin Persson (guitar), Dennis Ekdahl (drums), Toni Kocmut (vocals), Johan Paulsson (guitar) and Marco (bass) got together under the name of To The Grind. However, Marco and Johan quit quite soon and Jonas Nilsson (now in Raise Hell) and Thomas Fällgren joined in on guitar and bass. The purpose was to make high-quality Swedish death metal incorporating the best parts from traditional heavy metal styles. Judas Priest and Crimson Glory were the major influences. Still acting under the name To The Grind, Martin, Toni, Thomas, Jonas and Dennis did a gig supported by Thyrfing, In Cold Blood and The Marble Icon in April 1997. At this time they also recorded two songs, "Burn The Night" and "Reap The Storm", which were meant to appear on a compilation album. There was no money to produce this album, but the five guys had two songs with good sound quality on tape, which they sent to several record labels and underground magazines. Jonas left the band in the summer of '97 and Toni took over Jonas role as guitar player. From now on, the band had to rehearse without a vocalist. The band changed their name to Sins of Omission which they felt was more appropriate to the music, lyrics and their personal opinions. The demo was sent to different record companies and they were contacted by Nuclear Blast and Earache but the first response came from Wrong Again Records and during the following months Sins of Omission waited for the promised contract to appear. For some reason WAR stopped the correspondence and Black Sun Records contacted the band. BSR sent a record deal, and in January 1998 the band signed it. A few weeks after signing, the band entered wellknown Studio Fredman in Gothenburg to record the album "The Creation", engineered and supervised by Fredrik Nordström and Anders Fridén. Still in the absence of a vocalist, Toni layed the vocals on the album. Sins Of Omission started to look for a new singer, after one year they found him: Mårten Hansen from A Canorous Quintet (R.I.P.). They did a couple of gigs in Holland/Belgium and then Toni left the band 'cause he didn't find the metal genre interesting any more. So once again the band had to find a new member. This time the search was shorter. Mattias Eklund (Mortifer, Fist First, Repugnant) joined the band and added his skills to Sins' music. The band began to write new songs and played a couple of gigs in Sweden to try out the new material. In February 2001 Sins recorded their second album at Studio Underground in Västerås and the result was "Flesh on Your Bones". Engineered by Pelle "let´s take a five-hour lunch" Säter and Lasse Lindén (Carnal Forge) the result will blow your ass off when it´s released in October once again on Black Sun.
