Artist History
THE RAIN POETS is the bandname of Dutch singer/songwriters Ries de Wit (vocals, percussion) and Armand Wijskamp (guitar, vocals). Ries en Armand first got to know each other in rockband GROSS with which they performed en recorded a couple of demo's around 1998/1999. Before GROSS they played in numerous other bands: e.g. Armand was the singer/guitarist of Perpetual Demise and Ries was the singer of The Wannabees and the drummer of Never Too Young.
In the fall of 2000 they contacted each other again to start writing new acoustic songs. After playing in full bands for over 15 years their new challenge is to fascinate a live audience with a minimal set-up. The quality of the song is now the most important goal. The inspiration for their own compositions come from favourite artists like David Bowie, Jeff Buckley, Led Zeppelin and Radiohead. During live performances THE RAIN POETS play own songs and wayward cover versions of songs of these artists. |
