Artist History
In October of 2001, Kevin Donovan (Fu) asked Jeremy Fowler to join him on guitar/bass for live performances of Fu's solo work. Soon drummer John Berg was in tow and the group was performing as Kevin Donovan & the Brilliantes. By December Darwin Navarrete was performing as the group's bassist. Kevin decided that it would be a better idea if the band was a separate entity from Fu the solo artist since the music had taken on a unique sound. The group began playing under the name Gilfanon and soon was ready to record an "ep" together. The group decided to call their new sound "Acousticore" after Fu and Jeremy's preferance for acoustic instruments. After numerous health complications with Jeremy and Fu the recording finally took place in February 2002 and the CD was released in March 2002. John decided he needed some time for other interests in March so the boys carried on playing acoustic shows. There was soon to be good news however when Gilfanon spent three weeks on the Washington Post's Top Downloads Chart in April and May. The boys topped out at #12 with the song "Trying" sandwiched between locals favs The Junkyard Bard and Carbon Leaf. Currently Gilfanon can be found setting the night on fire with Rock N Roll all over Virginia and the Washington, DC area.
