Artist description amalgam - "Any combination or mixture of diverse elements." Amalgam is a diverse musical extravaganza based out of Sheboygan, WI, consisting of four male members. As their name suggests, Amalgam's music fuses a variety of styles with a focus on lyrical, pop-flavored melodic rock. They have written dozens of original songs that will keep your head bobbing and your lips humming all day long. Amalgam has performed in festivals, churches, coffeehouses, schools, camp, competitions, etc. across the mid-west for the eager ears of their diverse fan base ranging from grade school girls to middle aged business men. Erik Neave (19, bass guitar, mandolin, lead vocals), Nick DeMaster (19, rhythm guitar, trumpet), Zach Vinson (16, lead guitar, piano), and recently added drummer Joel Stokdyk, 17, are all born-again Christians, and are actively involved in the Sheboygan Evangelical Free Church. The band's name, Amalgam, was chosen not only because they play many different styles of music, but also because they view it as a mission statement: to be mixed into the world, but not of the world (John 17:13-19). Since their high school beginnings about three years ago, Amalgam has recorded two delightful CDs, the second of which, "Play the Man", was produced and engineered by Mike Middleton and Nick Radovanovic of the Dove-nominated band Hangnail. Along with the two CDs, Amalgam has won four "Battle of the Bands" competitions (out of four entered), and brought smiles to thousands of captivated listeners. Their thought-provoking lyrics discuss issues that teens and people of all ages are confronted with daily: love, hurt, loss, joy, and faith in God. Even through tough times and topics, Amalgam's songs reveal an underlying thread of hope because of the members' faith in Jesus Christ.
