Artist History Formed in early '96 in Windsor, Ontario by Neil Gillis (of MacMahones/Sawney Beane fame), Aaron McKinley, and Peter Caira (of the Welders) as 'The Mourining Woods.'The band recruited Damien Zakoor (of Blueteeth and the Tyres) to play drums shortly after writing and tracking some of their first songs and were gigging not long after. In early '96, the band recorded some 16 songs only to break up after the recording session. The band reformed shortly thereafter without Neil. A newcomer from Woodstock, Ontario, Michael Dube took lead guitar duties and the bands' sound changed to a more eclectic, groovy vibe. In March of '97, the band recorded again and were received quite well on the live circuit.As the summer of '97 wound down, the 'Mind Music Exhibit' idea was in full swing - displaying visual arts with live music, however in September of '97 Caira left to persue studies in Hamilton. The band then reformed with various other members as well as changing its name to 'Summertime.'As it stands now, the band is dormant, but not over. It will continue to survive and its next reincarnation might take you by surprise.
