Press Reviews
this industial quartet's moody dirges bring down tears from the heavens. sonatas of sorrow bleeding with an esotheric ache for all the broken hearts to hear. the beauty of their music lies in the dream they create between the void of despair and whispers of redemption....LOCALMUSIC.COM -- Splinter is a band with the deepest of moods swirling in Industrial Throttle and Acoustical Dreamy-ness. Lyrics that cut deep into your heart and music swirling into your soul. Backed by thousands of fans across the country, Gothic crowds and the non-gothic have a love for this band which can be described only by their utter devotion to this soul-capturing trio. ...SONICENET.COM ----Live Music Review Splinter by Mike Stanley... Splinter is a new band from Philadelphia, PA with a post-Nine Inch Nails sounds, miked with a new wave industrial vibe. Splinter has a sound much of its own. I must be honest--this type of music is not always mychoice for live entertainment. However, Splinter was quite impressive--showing good energy and showmanship. Their first song was very powerful and tight, with a thick but not too loud sound. The songs bring forth a feeling of raw emotion that continued throughout the entire. The band consists of four members:lead guitar/vocals, drums, bass, and keyboards, all of which were used very tastefully. The samples were very good and used in the right spots every time. Overall, Splinter has a raw live energy that any musician will appreciate. You can catch Splinter on the 98 Southeast U.S. Tour and look for them at Beanie's sometime in October. Show information is available at their website, Splinter90@aol.com....... -----To all who are looking for something on the darker, deeper side of music - the debut album of Philly native George Smith, Fragments of the Splinter is a definite must-have. Very rarely does music strike so deeply -deep under even the hurt, to resonate through the bleeding walls of the scarred heart. This is the stuff that you swear is meant for candle and incense burning -razorblade in hand, or otherwise. The most impressive tracks are the ones with the darker lyrics.. |
