Artist History
In just one year, Slow Roosevelt managed to build the kind of buzz that is envied by bands two or three times it's age. Thanks to some well placed high energy live shows and the release of its debut CD, Starving St. Nick, Slow Roosevelt's grass-roots buzz is growing into an earth-shaking roar. Performing with such legendary locals as the Toadies, Course of Empire, Ugly Mustard and Brutal Juice has put Slow Roosevelt right where it needs to be - in front of energized throngs of fans who want their music hard, fast, and sweaty. And these days, Slow Roosevelt has come far enough to draw crowds even without the big-name headliner. As a debut, Starving St. Nick was an impressive piece of work. That's why the release of Throwawyyourstereo, its follow up, is such a pleasure: It's even better than the first. This is one of the strongest local releases of recent memory. Slow "Ro" can sound like a bunch of other bands without sounding like any single one. The band's post-industrial sound is full and crisp, nearly to the point of oversaturation, as if the electricity's about to blow. In fact, the band's sound has garnered them "Best Rock" in '97 and "Best Metal" in '97, '98 & "99 in the Dallas Observer Music Awards. Additionally, the band took home Artist Of the Year, Best Album, Best Hard Rock, Best Male Vocalist and Best Producer/Engineer (Alex Gerst) in the 1999 Fort Worth Weekly Music Awards. |
