If they have a female singer who sets the pace instead of following it, they are unstoppable. Guess what? Fast Times are here to stay! Fast, angry, intelligent and destructive, Where Were You...is destined to be a hardcore classic. It finds the groove and beats the living snot out of it. !!!!! Keith CarmanBand: Fast Time sCD: Where Were You... CD/EPFemale hardcore? Is there such thing? Yes, my friends there is and I'vegot the CD to prove it! Four member hardcore band "Fast Times" isripping up the scene with the "Queen of the Pit" Ali ( Vocals )! Youmight of heard the m on the comp "Incompatible: Volume 1" with the song"Riot Act" which is a song talking about girls being in hardcore, whichis said in a very indirect way! To be honest, I don't like girl vocalson any type of music, but this girl has one hell of a hardco re voice! Song 3 "Vent" was sung by the drummer Matt and he sings okay but Alitakes the cake! Song 4 "Where Were You..." uses great personificationabout how a song can come out and (literally) grab you. Also the lyricsrefer much to today even though t here talking about 1988! The lyrics are"It was summer 1988 club music ruled that shit's for fools; I was tiredof hearing bass beats out of every car that drove by; So I was flippingthe dial on the radio when those power chords grabbed my heart". Clubm usic which now-a-days is techno and EVERYONE is listening to it, "bassbeats out of every car" Ali, I get tired of hearing those annoying assbass beats too!! Song 5 "Good Stuff" shows the straight edge side of theband! Do you know what the good stuff is? It's Adrenaline, the bodiesnatural high / rush! I could go on all day about this CD but I'm sureyou want to check out the rest of PIR so I guess I'll let you go now! But don't for get to order the CD from Smorgasbord Records! Tenquickly and furious hc-punk songs are enough for demostrate you that itīstrue, in only thirteen minutes, itīs an excellent letter of introduction.(ŋ?)Smorgasbord is a small discography but it has a lot of talent bands, FastTimes, of course isnīt the exception that confirm the rule(ŋ?). Since thebegining with "Riot Act", you know that youīll havenīt a rest.I donīt find another band similar to this New Jersey band, their sound isharcore but very near with punk, itīs a very good example of why punk andhardcore are joined. Aliīs voice gives the band a lot of personality. Itīsvery possible that the thing that more attract me is their newest(ŋ?) soundThe themes of their sounds are various, for example in "New Blood", Ali,the singing, ŋDid i tell you that she is a girl?,(in spanish we haveadjetives for male and female we do nīt use the same like english) make awink(ŋ?) at all "punk girls" that start in this world or in "Good Stuff"they show us that adrenaline is better than any drug, you dont need drugsif you have adrenaline, and when you listen te cd you can see that the ha vea lot of it (adrenaline)Visentwww.musica.org/timebombh
