    Artist History
:::Chapter One:::The First Summer::: It all started in Junior High when Arlen Peiffer and Ben McFarland felt the need to start a crappy punk rock band. At the time Arlen could play guitar pretty well and Ben could sing. Now all they needed was a bass player and a drummer. Well it just so happened that their best friend Ross Bartley had just started learning to play the bass. Arlen and Ross decided to jam a few times and if all went well Ross could join the band. Of course all went well and The Cherry Title (Formerly named Inside Joke)was now a step closer to becoming a real band. Now, as fate may have it, a few months later Kipp Buckingham bought a cheap guitar and started teaching himself to play. Hey, two guitars are better than one, right? So now all they needed was a drummer......which would never be found. Inside Joke got together for the first time on June 14, 2001. They played one song, then became discouraged and left to screw around downtown and break skateboards. The next practice Drew VanWinkle joined the band as the new singer. Inside Joke really didn't need another singer, but Drew was just a good friend who wanted to be in the band. Drew tried his hardest but never really had the knack for singing. He quit the band a few months later because he felt Inside Joke was going nowhere......and he was right. That summer, Inside Joke recieved some very bad news. Ross was moving to Kansas. Not only were they sad to see their bass player go, but Ross of all people. Why Ross? Well, about that time Ben was considering buying a guitar, but when he heard Ross was moving, he decided it would be better if he got a bass. And got a bass he did. Ben got his bass that September for his birthday and began taking lessons. So now Inside Joke consisted of Arlen and Kipp on guitar and Ben on the bass. Now for the hard part, finding a drummer. :::Chapter Two:::Finding The Perfect Drummer::: School rolled around again and Kipp heard from someone that a new kid named Jimmy would be attending. All anyone knew about Jimmy was that he play drums and liked Greenday. Inside Joke immedeatly thought Jimmy would be the perfect drummer. Well, as it turned out, Jimmy never came to school, and probably never will. Jimmy was a made-up person that some stupid kid used to fool Inside Joke. Note: Hello stupid kid who tricked Inside Joke into thinking you were Jimmy. You did a pretty good job convincing us Jimmy was real, we'll give you that. And also, Jimmy, we don't know who you are but we will find you and force you to play drums. :::Shortened Version::: Ben, Arlen, Kipp, and, Ross start a band. Drew joins. Drew quits. Ross moves. Lucas joins. Lucas is kicked out. Brian joins. Brian is kicked out. Back to the original line-up minus Ross. After the whole Jimmy incident was over and Inside Joke still had no drummer they had no idea what to do. Should they break-up? But wait, Lucas Jones, could he play drums? Probably not but who cares. Lucas was a kid at school who Inside Joke never liked, but he said he was getting drums, so they thought, "hey why not give it a try?" They gave Lucas 4 or 5 months to get drums and he never did. He was just lying like he always does. Inside Joke played their first "show" on December 21, 2001 in Arlen's basement. It was really a spur of the moment thing because Ben and Arlen were there playing their first show with their new good band Maladjusted Hero and Kipp was there watching. Another friend of theirs was there at the time, and he actually knew how to play drums. So Inside Joke plus Brian Wingler on drums played two songs at the Maladjusted Christmas Pagent after everyone left. Thank-you to the 3 people who stuck around to watch us. After that Inside Joke decided to add Brian Wingler as their new drummer and everything was great.....for a while. But then Brian never came to practices and things weren't working out. So they kicked Brian out and started looking for a drummer again. Well, soon after that, Inside Joke figured out there were no more drummers in Iowa. All the drummers in town were already in other bands, so once again, Inside Joke had no drummer.... ..unless....unless Arlen had an idea. And what an idea he had. What if, since Ben, Arlen, and Kipp had been in the band since the start and they were the only ones who really wanted this band, why not have a trio? So Arlen got drums in May of 2002 and started learning to play them as quickly as possible because they had their first real show coming up in August. And now Inside Joke had everything they needed to be a real band. :::Chapter Three:::The Cherry Title::: Inside Joke was starting to sound good for once. The new line-up and the drums really helped. And because of this new line-up and new sound Inside Joke decided to change their name. Here's the point in time when they change their name to The Cherry Title. And along with the new name came new material. They trashed all their old songs they'd written and started over.
