Artist description
Matthew grew up with his mother singing folk tunes on an old nylon string guitar in smalltown Mississippi so it seemed only natural to later pick up the instrument himself. It didn't take long before he fell in love with writing songs - a craft that he loves to pursue, " It is really a constant seeking of the song. Always plenty of room to grow and create, always deeper to dig."
Matthew's love for the guitar is melded perfectly into his lyrically driven songs. His acoustic folk songwriting is both thoughtful and warming with its wit, and always leaves more to be discovered with every listen. He has been compared to the likes of Lyle Lovett, Paul Simon, and David Wilcox.

Artist History
"Having grown up in a small town, I love the intimacy and connection of the acoustic singer/songwriter. I want to be able to really sing to an audience something that would not only be worth hearing but worth listening to - something someone can be glad that they heard."

Press Reviews
"A folk/rock sound dominates the album, with
mandolin melody lines on 'Sweet Kate' and
bouncy guitar licks on 'Falling for You'.
Milly Moorehead, owner of Southside Gallery,
hired Clark for an opening artist reception
Aug. 24 "He played here at the gallery... and
everyone was really digging it," Moorehead said.
The Clarion Ledger
Having a chance to see Matthew Clark perform in a coffee house setting was delightful. We couldn't believe he sang and played for over two solid hours without taking a break. But no one was complaining! It was obvious that as an audience we were enjoying him and he, us.
"Comfortably intimate is the best phrase I can think of to describe the evening. Clark's talking to the audience, telling the spark for each song, about what is behind his creative ideas made the performance especially personal and interesting. Such dialogue casually exposes some recurring ideas, thus helping the audience to readily connect to his lyrics."
