Gregory Scott ~Born To Perform~
Pop/Rock Performer Singer " Songwriter " Instrumentalist " Dancer " Actor
With all that he has accomplished, it’s hard to believe that this London, Ont.– based performer is just 25 years old. Quite simply, this multi-talented artist is one of the most versatile, and certainly one of the hardest working, Pop/Rock performers in Southwestern Ontario.
Gregory Scott can do it all on stage, and he entertains with a unique style combining Popular music with a hint of Jazz and Swing. Fans compare his style to the ‘80s English band, Level 42. Indeed, Gregory Scott knows how to please an audience in many ways with his smooth vocals, carefully choreographed dance moves and strong stage presence.
Perhaps local fans recognize Gregory Scott for his one-man show, Shaker – a Ricky Martin tribute which packed fans into the London Ice House as well as performed on the The New PL morning show, New Day. This dynamic performer has also demonstrated his strong vocals and slick dance moves as part of an N’ Sync tribute at the Western Fair’s Imax Theatre. Yet, as a tribute to his own talents, Scott has proven that he is anything but a Boy Band clone. He has demonstrated his leadership skills and diversity as the innovator and lead performer with: Gregory Scott and the Bartop Shakers – a Jazz/Swing group; and the Slick Chevies – a ‘50s-‘60s Dance band.
Now, bound and bent to be heard as an original artist, he is recording the many songs he has been writing for the past 6 years. With more than 14 songs in the itinerary for his debut album, he actually does not compose one-featured song. Gregory Scott’s first single will sanction this one song that is ready to be heard called Love On The Run, written by friends Shelly Rastin and co-writer legendary rocker Randy Bachman. Love On The Run, features a special guest performer, London area drummer Mike Hackman.
After The Lounge – an Alternative/Rock/funk group, which Scott currently leads. Will set the future as the band to play and perform the debut album. After The Lounge features London guitarist Bryan Parsons. Parsons, co-writer for most of Scott’s songs is a “creative guitarist, good friend and his licks are crazy wild”, Scott says. “I could not have done any of this with out him”.
The single Love On The Run and It’s Over, has plans for release in early winter 2003.
Scott prides himself on writing from the heart. "I write about life’s experiences", he says. "It’s the only way I know how".
He lists Frank Sinatra, Elvis Presley, John Travolta, Johnny Favourite and Jim Morrison as the performers who have influenced his own style.
With such a diverse list of musical giants affecting Gregory Scott’s career, it’s easy to understand why this young man is poised to become a star in his own right. Not only has he been recognized for his music performance and abilities, the October 2003 Toronto Sunshine Boy was also chosen as London’s Most Eligible Bachelor by Energy Radio in January of 2003.
