Artist History
Blockhead is a Swedish Powercore band from Enköping (80 km west of Stockholm). Powercore is a concept that fits this style of metal which is like a mix between the melodic groove and heaviness of Powergroove (Pantera / Machine Head) and the brutality and aggression of Hardcore (Pro-pain / Biohazard) but still something totally new.
1992 - the band started out already back then, at first with 5 members, but the original bass player left for studies in 1994. After trying out a few others, the decision was made that one of the guitarists would take over the bass instead.
It took 3 demos and plenty of gigs before an actual opportunity finally came.
After a gig in Norrköping (90 km south of Stockholm) the band did an interview with the local metal radio station, which had contacts with a record label called Wet Paint Music*.
Blockhead presented one of the demos at that time called BLOCKHEAD...SUCKS.
1996 - WPM* decided to sign with Blockhead to start recording the first promo CD.
1997 - USELESS was released, which only contained 3 songs, (Useless, The breathing and White lines). This release has an excellent sound, probably due to the fact that the mastering was done by Peter In De Betou at Cutting room in Stockholm, which has a very good reputation.
1998 - was a bad year. The reason is that the first album was supposed to be released.
But at the end of the recordings the studio had a break in and the master tapes of
CRAWL THROUGH THE DIRT got stolen, along with all the studio equipment.
After long discussions, the only thing that felt right at that time was to start over with new fresh material.
2000 - Blockhead worked on a lot of new ideas and newer influences to broaden the horizons.
The singer, who has bonds with Belgium through his girlfriend, has been promoting the band there. He did a radio interview on Radio Centraal (Kicks) in Antwerp on 2 January 2002 www.radiocentraal.be/kicks.
2001 - they started to write and record the self-titled DEBUT CD which is planned to be released through WPM* and Plata / Warner Chappell during the end of 2003.

Press Reviews
Close-up #55 Jan/Feb 2003 (Swedens " and Skandinavias" biggest Metal Magazine)
BLOCKHEAD s/t - - WPM1010
Enköpingorkester som efter tio års harvande äntligen får släppa loss sin ångvältsthrash på skiva.
Ett album, "Crawl through the dirt", låg det facto klart redan 1998, men killarna blev bestulna

TRANSLATION
Band from Enköping who after 10 years of struggling finally get to release their steamroller thrash on a record.
One album "Crawl through the dirt", was infact already done back in 1998, but the guys lost the master tapes
during a studio break-in. The Self-titled debut contains ear candy for everybody like me that have an inclination
for heavy, grinding and aggressive thrash metal, accompanied by vocals sprung from the lower abdominal regions.
BLOCKHEAD makes me reminded of CROWBAR's glory days.
Goddamn Heavy!!!
