    Artist description
4 or 5 Dopes existed from 1993-1998, playing a hard and funky brand of hip hop/rock/soul. The vocals were mostly rapped and backed up by powerhouse drumming, funky guitars and soulful bass. Occasionally the band had a DJ and sometimes added horns both in the studio and live.Ë™

    Artist History
4/5D had a big following in their hometown of Los Angeles and were constantly performing, not just in LA but San Francisco and New York as well. They had three main phases to their history: 1) the first line up featuring Dez on vocals, Cool Walt on bass, Bobby D on drums and G-Money on guitar. This was their most hardcore phase. 2) The "Kilmore era". This was whn bass player Cool Walt took over lead vocals and the stage show was augmented by DJ Kilmore (now in Incubus) and 3) the final phase where th e songs became more melodic with much more singing and vocalists Malyque and Diana Lynn rounded out the crew. This last line up disbanded in 1998. Over the years they opened for the Dazz Band, Fishbone, the Pharcyde, Fu Schnickens, Flex, the Whoridas and Body Count. ,Ω
