Artist History
Outremer was founded early summer 2001 but the history of the bands members reaches far beyond that. As early as in 1985 Paul Johansson founded his first band, "Curse", which soon would change their name to "Acid Queen". At that time, in January 1986, Ola Malmström, which had known Paul for some time entered the band as a vocalist. Acid Queen would live until the summer of 1986 when the three main members caught up with a new drummer and another guitarist and formed "Sorcery". Some demos were made and the line up had changed many times when suddenly the band was a bassplayer short. Ola had worked on a two man project called A.S.S. together with a bassplayer called Mikael Jansson. Mikael had earlier played with another local band called "Megalomania", but now in winter 88/89 he joined Sorcery full time. A third Sorcery demo was made in 1989 which lead to a deal with a French label for one EP. The EP "Rivers of the dead" was released in late summer 1990. A year later Sorcery released their first and only album called "Bloodchilling Tales". Meantime Ola and Mikael had a seroius discussions about taking up their old two man project again. In October 1991 their new band "Fear My Solitude" was born. Mikael soon afterwards left Sorcery mainly due to musical differences and he wanted to concentrate on his new band. Sorcery again made lots of line-up changes, recorded another demo, played some gigs but it wasn't until 1997 something was released by the band when they appeared with one song on the "Voices of Death" compilation album. At that time Fear My Solitude had at least made nine demos. Paul had for some time now been playing with a band called "In Aeternum" and he decided to leave Sorcery in 1997. Sorcery was laid to rest, Fear my Solitude was laid to rest and Ola didn't do anything for the next years that followed. Paul met up with Joacim Olofsson who was the drummer in In Aeternum and Martyrum. Ola and Mikael recorded in the summer 2000 two songs that Mikael had written under the name "Amanita Phalloides". In early 2001 Paul and Joacim decided to leave In Aeternum, they contacted Mikael and Ola to found a new band that would differ musically from their earlier works. Outremer was born.
