    Artist History
Cyanotic had a humble beginning in the midi ghettos of Northwestern Indiana in early 2000. The initial drive to create industrial rock grew fleeting as the group began experimenting and employing elements of power noise, digital hardcore, glitch and jungle along with the signature thick riffs and pounding percussion pioneered by coldwave / synthcore acts such as Chemlab, 16 Volt, Acumen Nation and Diatribe in the early 90s. In late 2002, amidst many personnel changes and financial losses, the duo of Sean Payne and Drew Rosander began relentlessly tweaking near-ancient sounds in hopes of creating a sound that expanded upon the "industrial rock" moniker. Last July Cyanotic independently released the "Mutual Bonding Through Violation" E.P. through their own label (Glitch Mode Recordings). It has enjoyed strongly positive reviews, mass support from the underground media and a rapidly growing fanbase, thanks in part to relentless touring with the likes of Bile, Nocturne, Defragmentation, Rec|use, Torrent Vaccine and Andrew W.K. The debut album features eight distinctly diverse songs complete with harsh synths, violent rhythms, pummeling guitars and brutal sonic experimentations. Both members cite masses of alternative influences in helping to mold the signature Cyanotic sound – from industrial, metal, hip hop, jungle, psy-trance, ethereal ambience, rhythmic noise and even grindcore. Cyanotic is currently beginning work on the as-yet-untitled, full-length successor to Mutual Bonding Through Violation, due in 2004. At the same time they have been keeping busy by contributing songs to various compilations and completing remixes for the likes of The Aggression, Upon Eventual Collapse and Legacy Device. "Cyanotic (www.cyanotic-online.com) offers up coldwave reminiscent of 16 Volt with a touch of Bile updated for the modern ear on Mutual Bonding Through Violation. Excellent skipping gltich electronica-styled drums combine with synth-filtered guitar to produce a short EP of hard and angry beats with heavily distorted vocals. The songs actually manage to grab hold and carry you for their length without boredom or unnecessary repetition. This is an album that brings fresh material to the true fans of the early-to-mid-90's style of grinding and aggressive coldwave that seems to be almost forgotten." - INDUSTRIAL NATION “My congrats with a whole-hearted dose of support from the Cracknation crew for the majority of Payne's Cyanotic album. Tight. Interesting. Good production. Excellent use of an Ogre fixation as well. Anyone looking for a helping of old school by way of new school industrial danceteria ... go buy Sean's album.” -- Invisible/Underground Inc. Artists ACUMEN NATION
