    Artist History
the Family Tree formed in Jan of '98 by Al Graves and Grant Jacobus. After years of playing around southwestern Michigan in different projects, Al in Backbone, Grant in Elegant Junkie. Both leaving these groups and focusing on family, Al and Grant got together to jam and asking Angie Graves, Al's wife to come and play the Keyboards. Soon after Mike Jacobus joined the Family Tree to fill out the guitar work. In the summer of '99 Nate Danis(drums) and Chris Ford(guitar) joined and many jam sessions held and new songs were written. "the Family Tree" would play flowing into one another and "one time jams" would echo from the Family Trees rehersal space, which resulted in a mountain of tapes. In the summer of '01 Nate, Chris and Mike saddly left the band. Shortly after the band recruited longtime friends Dave Dewy(guitar) and Dave Perry(drums). Two months later the Family Tree was in the studio recording their first demo album "Talez From the treez", shows were booked and the Family Tree was reborn and better than ever. "the Family Tree's" long standing tradition of impromptu jams and creative spirt has florished ever since.
