Artist History
Formed in the darkness of a Hell's Kitchen winter, Strikes Again! play rock and roll like the the last band on earth. 20-year-old vocalist/guitarist/songwriter John Van Atta is the key: with Springsteen in his conviction and Strummer in his snarl he is a propeller on stage, powering SA!'s explosive songs ever outwards. Rhythm section John Conroy and Mike Ingenthron have stormed up and down the seaboard in a half-dozen New York rock bands between them. Jeff Wiens rounds out the foursome, adding guitar that makes SA!'s brand of punk/rock even more superlative!
Strikes Again! mixes histrionic shows at CBGBs with blitzing short sets at New York City alternative theater performances. Where else but off-off-Broadway can you see the band power through 'Mediocrity Blues', its showstopping anthem of anti-, while warding off an impromptu attack by glitter-fisted reform school girls! |
