Artist History
Anthelion was born in January 1999 thanks to Fabio Garzia (guitar), Francesco Lomoro (guitar) and Luca Buonamici (drums). A fast power metal with epic and heavy influences was chosen as the band's genre. But they lacked a bass-player. For a while Matteo Leonetti was entrusted with this task; he helped the band a lot for their first gigs. Things changed in early 2K, when two new members joined Anthelion: Matteo Borselli (keyboards) and Alberto Teruggi (bass). This turned the band's genre into a symphonic power, with long instrumental parts. With this new line-up, the band performed in various occasions, in schools, squares and clubs, and it was appreciated by a various audience. In summer 2K Emiliano Gabriele, Aurion's vocalist, joined the band. He gave his support to Anthelion in gigs and in the demo recording.
Before recording, Francesco Lomoro (now Kvntvr's guitar-player) parted from the band because of different musical choices. Then the band changed its style, the songwriting became more complex and progressive than the previous, and consequently songs were rearranged in this new point of view.
In February 2k1 Anthelion recorded the first demo. At the end of the recording session, Emiliano And Alberto decided to leave (the first was working on the Aurion's album, the second left for personal issues, not connected to the band).
Then the live activity had a stop, while the songwriting continued at great speed: before summer 2K1, besides the three songs in the demo (more than 20 minutes), the band was working on three new tracks.
Between May and September 2k1, after a careful selection, two new members joined the band: Andrea Portieri (as a rhythmic guitar-player) and Alessandro Lofoco (as a bass-player). During autumn 2K1, even lacking a vocalist, Anthelion kept writing new songs and improving the previous ones. They experimented new solutions, near hard rock and progressive metal. Meanwhile, the band tried various vocalist, but didn't find the right one.
Fortunately, in February 2K2 tha band got in touch with Freddie, who joined it in spite of his group, Princess. Two months before the recording session, fixed for May 2K2, Anthelion decided to change style again, this time changing the drum-player, Luca Buonamici (who decided to part from Anthelion because of various incomprehensions).
The new member was Emiliano Cantiano (ex Iron Gates drum-player)
Owing to commitments with Princess, Freddie, after a gig with the band at the Alpheus (a well-known club in Rome), parted from the band. He was replaced by Marco Marinotti (known for playing with Simone Sello in On), a very good vocalist with a wide vocal range and a peculiar timbre (his influences are David Lee Roth and Van Halen).
So, an year after the first demo cd, Anthelion entered the recording studios woth a brand new line-up (except for Fabio Garzia and Matteo Borselli), sharply superior tho the previous one.
The new demo, L.I.N.E.S. X, consists in three songs and an instrumental intro (totally 22 minutes). Recorded and mixed at the Temple Of Noise in the month of June 2K2, it will be available from August 2K2
