    Artist description
Naughty Butterspoon is a musical blender of hard rock, funk, progressive, alternative, and a few other ingredients that's best served loudly. The end result? Take a heavy dose of 70's porno rock, add a touch of 80's hair rock, finish off with a few Seattle-style grungy chords from the 90's, and you get the basic idea...

    Artist History
Naughty Butterspoon evolved from Inception, which evolved from Serenity, which sort of evolved from Dr. Paradox, which, to the best of our knowledge, didn't really evolve from anything. Brent Duersch and Dave Rottenberger, both long-time guitarists and residents of Cincinnati, met through work and formed the band Serenity. When Serenity began the inevitable downward spiral, Brent & Dave jumped ship to form Inception, a cutting-edge (and rather loud) guitar instrumental recording project. After writing & recording enough songs for a CD, Brent & Dave started itching to put together a real band to play the instrumentals live. Thus the seeds for Naughty Butterspoon were sown. Brent had been jamming with drummer Scott Pirk (whom he had also met through work) on and off for a couple of years. It didn't require much arm-twisting to talk Scott into coming over to jam. All that was needed then was a bass player--and where would Brent turn to find a bass player? Of course... work! Brad Whitmore, a keyboard junkie in a previous life, expressed a newfound interest in playing bass. After a few weeks of jamming around on Inception instrumentals, the time had come to move on. New material was written, a new band name was chosen (at least we didn't call ourselves Penal Colony), and Dave stepped up to the mic to sing. Almost two years later, we've got a handful of successful gigs (including making it to the semifinals at the 2002 Mad Frog Battle of the Bands) under our belt and a full-length CD, Fantasy Pants. And best of all, we're still cranking out the funky new tunes!
