RISK(aka mike407)got started DJing breaks in Florida back in 1995, and later Drum & Bass in upstate NY, forming Elite Tribe in 1996 and later Foot Souljahs in 1999 with Superball. Tagging with superball and playing solo sets from north of the border in Canada straight down the East Coast, Mike has proven his skills behind the decks. His production skills speak for themselves. RISK is the executive producer of all Footsouljahs recordings. He is also owner of Risky Bizness Studios in the suburbs of Washington D.C.
SUPERBALL got started DJing in upstate NY in 1997, forming Elite Tribe and later Foot Souljahs with Mike 407. His smooth mixing and nasty scratching style has made him a popular act. He has played both coasts of the US with names such as LTJ Buken, Kenny Ken, Micky Finn, Qbert and Ray Keith. He is also co-owner of www.freshnyc.com which produce a weekly radio show with all the top NYC Junglists performing. Freshnyc also broadcasts live from Bass:Mint in NYC for their once a month party.
D-LOW has been rockin' the upstate NY scene for several years now. He is the Drum & Bass record buyer at Skyehigh East (syracuse) D-Low's selection is the tightest in the area. His skills are on point. Now that he's moved into the producing realm with RISK and SUPERBALL, he is definately a man to look out for. |

Press Reviews
Review by Bill Whiting-Mahoney from www.technopunkmusic.com :
"Foot Souljahs Stateside Militia are urban, ragga, jungle, hardcore dancehall and street-level hip hop overall
and if one were to limit them to just one category it would be easiest to simply call them awesome.
The Log On EP is wickedly intense, almost epic-length productions that show nary a sign of daylight in this,
the deepest and darkest of jungle creativity.
All on this five-track masterwork are remixes, with the exception of the jungle instrumentation of "Chainsaw Massacre"
that combines the evil with the sublime by featuring a hardcore bass attack with soothing piano keys that surface in
between and on top of the brutality. What, in effect, these remixes do is extend these rich vocal displays and make them darker,
much more penetrating than your typical hip-hop amalgamations, that are unto themselves much richer than normal hip-hop.
For example, standardized hip-hop, ragga or hardcore dancehall have the flaw of featuring vocals up-front, in one’s face.
Here, Foot Souljahs blend the vocals into the choons so it’s a complete wall of invigoration. The ragga/jungle mixture of
the opening title track puts it within the ilk of excellent purveyors Buju Banton and Congo Natty. Elsewhere the involving
hardcore rap tendencies of "Move Bitch" a is body-slamming, chant-the-fuck-along highlight.
"Deport Dem" and the extremely catchy "Burn Mi Fire" are certain party favs to the nth degree,
being stunning and sweaty displays of just how far the strike of this five-man crew (producers D-Low,
Mike 407 and Superball, lyricists Optimus Rhyme) extends. This is dark, fanatically obsessive ragga at
its very finest and perhaps the only problem with The Log On EP is its brevity. At a mere five tracks long,
there isn’t nearly enough to satisfy the fever these tracks induce.
However, what that briefness does do is ensure an absolute fascination with the Souljahs and nearly guarantee
complete attention to what these fellas will have their hands in next.
A journey to the Souljahs Stateside site uncovers a wicked, yet somewhat typical, live jungle set that does not
match up to the power and intensity of this release. If this EP is an indication of their actual talents, rather
than their complete remixing power, Foot Souljahs Stateside Militia may very well be one of the most exciting forces
out there.
