Artist description
In an ideal world you probably wouldn’t hear musically diverse, talented, and Where’s My Lunch? mentioned in the same breath but then again this isn’t an ideal world now is it? Comprised of 3 band members, with the addition of an occasional clarinetist every now and then, the Indian based trio has graced the world with their own blend of acoustic-influenced ‘music’ that can almost resemble the sound of a beaver drowning in it’s own vomit. |

Artist History
Originally formed in New Delhi in the summer of 2002 as a two-piece band, Where’s My Lunch? is essentially the brainchild of 17-year-old singer/songwriter Dinny Ghafar, whose alternative metal roots seem to have been partially uprooted during his time in New Delhi. Hailing from the suburbs of Brunei Darussalam (huh, where?), Ghafar is the self-proclaimed bandleader and architect of what the band has achieved. The tribal ethnicity featured on some of WML?’s songs owe their existence to Ghafar’s native heritage, whose fondness towards ‘South-East Asian indigenous tribal music’ accounts for the WML? sound.
Pogo, the resident singer/mascot, makes for the other half of the band’s original line-up (pogo does not believe in having last names). His role in the band however, is more ambiguous as he neither contributes in the songwriting process nor sings when the time comes. One could argue that Pogo is literally nothing more than an 8-inch tall stuffed chimpanzee plush doll, that does nothing more than look pretty in front of the mirror all day long.
The final piece in the WML? puzzle came in the manifestation of 16-year-old singer/co-lyricist Ahmed Al-Murad, who joined the group a month after it was formed. A Kuwaiti- national, Al-Murad adds that extra zing to the trio’s almost comical vocal prowess that also makes for the WML? sound. Standing at a mere 6’2”, Al-Murad incorporates his punk and ska background into the band’s lyrics.
“The band is really just a side-project… an excuse Ahmed and me to write music together”, Dinny unashamedly mentions. “Being a side-project band is no excuse to slack off on the songwriting, which we take very seriously even though it might not seem like it”.
