Artist History
Canada's newest state of the art live-electronica band is the sonic crossroads where programmed beats and frenetic soundscapes meet wicked live instrumentation. Founded in 1997 by Cham Samara and Johnny Bland, the project was created with the intent of fusing together the power and intensity of the modern rock era, with the futuristic and multi-layered progressions found in DJ culture. Building on nearly 10 years of previous live music experience, the duo have taken their musical chops and filtered them through the lens of electronic mayhem and are creating a new revolutionary style of electronica that has to be seen to be believed.
Stormwaver have developed a loyal following in the West Coast underground live music scene. Whether shaking the house at Vancity after-hours parties or throwing down until 6AM in the desert outside of Las Vegas, these two unusual suspects constantly seek out alternative venues in which to represent their powerful collision of energy and sound. Understanding that their musical peers and allies exist in the outer fringes of music culture, the project has also chosen to happily flourish there.
Having bootlegged most of their own live sets and then turned these into demos (which they sold at shows), the band are planning to record their vast repertoire of songs and release a full-length debut album in the summer of 2003.
Audio-chemists. Raging electronica. Hurried-house. Whatever it is dubbed, it is unique and powerful. If you come with an open mind, you can participate in the liberation frequencies known as stormwaver......meegan maultsaid
