Artist History
Flux A.D. burst out onto the Hamilton music scene back in
1997 with their EP, "Lucky Seven". Their first release was a
mere glimpse into what the band was capable of. The band
blends alternative rock with layered, dreamy, synth-pop. Julie
MacDonald`s beautiful vocals echo over the blazing guitars of
co-founding member, Bill Majoros. The recent additions of
keyboardist Graham Walsh, drummer Joel Stouffer, and
bassist Sally Panavas, have helped to add more texture and
focus to the sound of the band.
Since the band's inception, they have received rave reviews and many accolades. Toronto's alternative weekly, "Eye" deemed Flux A.D. one of the best new artists in 1999. For their first full length album, "Passive Aggressive" (1999) they had the opportunity to record in Grant Avenue recording studio, which was started by producer,Daniel Lanois (who is best known for his work with U2). Their follow EP, "Obsessive Compulsive"(2000), was rated the #1 album of the year by 93.3 CFMU (McMaster University/community radio) in 2000.
In addition to their studio work, Flux A.D. has received high praise for their captivating live performance. Following performances in the North by North East music festival in 2000 and 2001, Chart (Canadian's premiere music magazine) proclaimed that they rocked so hard that they are "progressing well towards world domination". Flux's live performance can fill the room with energy, whether they are playing in front of a crowd of 20 people or 200 people.
With the release of their 2nd full length album, "Transatlanticthoughts", Flux A.D. has become Hamilton's uber group and quite possibly, the Canadian rock scene's best kept secret.
