Artist description Catch Phrase began in early 2002. Justin and Bonwell played in Boise-based cixelsyd for seven years, and despite a good amount of success the band slowly disappeared due to internal conflicts, only to unearth with their new drummer and co-songwriter Joel Smith as Catch Phrase, a new project with some of cixelsyd’s old songs and many new energetic tunes. Self labelled as “Power Pop Rock,” Catch Phrase’s draw is due in big part to the energy they put into their songwriting and the energy they let out on stage. As with many independent bands, Catch Phrase’s music is not the result of a few key influences, but a mix of each member’s own ideas. The songs are intended to reflect different lives and experiences of listeners and fans.
