Artist description
Welcome to the world of Range#Eleven, a five
piece rockin’ (in a subtle way!) band from the
Edinburgh area of Scotland.
Although the song writing partnership of Gregg
Miller and Steve Dickson has been a creative
entity for some time now it is only in the past
year or so that they have got it together and
formed a band.
It has been one hell of a year culminating a
lengthy run at No 1 in the Peoplesound Indie Rock
Chart (www.peoplesound.com/artist/rangeeleven)and
a support slot with Deacon Blue plus the offer of
a support slot with the Supernaturals - which a
band member, who shall remain nameless, turned
down as he ” thought the drummer was away”, much
to the dismay of The Management!
Other highlights of the year for Range#Eleven have
included sell out gigs all over Edinburgh and the
Central Belt, the recording of two demo CDs and
several of the live gigs, the filming of their
very own “Rockumentary” (in the final stages of
editing), appearances on Grampian and LTV – the
Cable TV company for the Glasgow area (they were
immediately asked back!) and the launch of the
band’s website www.rangeeleven.com
Work on Range#Eleven’s first Album “Keep It Right”
(which has been funded by some heavy duty sponsors
-hip) is now complete and plans for the official
launch include a live performance from an open
topped bus touring the streets of Edinburgh (if
the weather gets better!)
The band are keen to progress and further gigs are
planned throughout Scotland and beyond during 2002
Here’s hoping you can find some space for
Range#Eleven in your busy lives!

Press Reviews
Dave Arcari - Editor Music Scene 26th March 2002
Another 'Demo listen' trip into the grey area
between demo and bona fide release. This time
round, though, it's easier to draw some lines.
From the shrink wrapping and nicely designed
packaging to the nine tracks of pretty impressive
pop-rock and release-quality production.
Keep it Right is every inch a real album. Add a
record label (start your own with this!),a barcode
and sort out some distribution and you have the
full monty.
Demo Listen has been criticised for attaching too
much importance to the format/packaging in the
past, so moving on to the sounds - we're still
impressed!
Five of the tracks were recorded live at
Range#Eleven's show with Deacon Blue at the City
Hall last year - live recordings are hard to get
right, but the mix and overall sound on these
tracks is just fine and they sit nicely with the
other tracks recorded at Perth's Clearwater studio
Range#Eleven's style is fairly safe pop-rock -
not ground breaking generally, but the quality of
song writing and performance helps the material
stand out. Track four 'Blind Eyed View' is one of
the more contemporary sounding songs on the CD and
is a fantastic, energetic and emotion-charged
track.
One of the live Tracks, 'Take in Somewhere' is
another great track that shows that there are
plenty new ideas that just need teased out the
arrangements a little. More tracks like this and
Range#Eleven won't just have a great album,
they'll have a bunch of hits too.
Other noteworthy tracks are Fanfares Create and
an acoustic version of the title track 'Keep it
Right' which also appears as one of the live
tracks.
As mentioned, the musicianship and performance all
round is well above average. The vocals are
particularly strong, confident and well-executed
- good vocalists at grass roots level are hard to
find and Range#Eleven have a potential star in
Alan Yuill.
There's loads of info on the band's website at
www.rangeeleven.com and links to their Peoplesound
site where you can listen, download and buy tracks
