Artist description
Menmechanical in their current configuration were regenerated spontaneously in December 2001 from a 10 month old specimen. Consisting of four elements, Brian (guitar/vox) Robb (Guitar/keyboards), Clark (drums, keyboards, programming) Steven (bass), they have prided themselves on craft and realism more than art, although Menmechanical has been hypothetically described to have both. Their approach is not only to be good at what most bands are good at, but also the antithesis; to be realistic, tractable and Macchiavelian.
Brian, the internationally raised anti-frontman-in-training prefers efficiency and understatement to any whiny Cobain-esque nonsense. He doesn’t want to die for anyone’s sins, just to get ahead to where he can stop re-living them. In similar fashion, the band as a whole see musical content not as a threat that gives them worries of “selling out” or credibility, but as a given considering the work that’s gone into it. The by-product is far from emotionally sterile or vacuous, but it’s a point of pride that after the songs can come across emotionally loaded, highly reactive and “eccentric”, the writers seem to have an unusually balanced theatricality in person that is sharply regulated and controlled.
Experiments to further determine its nature are ongoing.
