Artist description
We’re a serious outfit endeavouring to perform as professionally as possible both on and off the stage.
We’ve grown up around a variety of musical influences ranging from 70’s rock to Jazz and everything in between. For this reason we choose not to name specific bands, preferring not to be categorised. Our music is an eclectic fusion of hip-hop, African percussion and progressive hard rock serving as a means of challenging the listener to examine the world and question society. Stated powerfully and fuelled by strong emotions, the message is made clear: We’re living in an ill system. And even though the songs generally examine the negatives, they often result in a positive message. However, above all, Ill System is about music and pushing its boundaries.

Artist History
Cape Town based Ill System, formed when
Bobby Addison (guitars) and Owen Lowrey (bass)
joined up with Jason Walter (drums) in June of
2000. Shortly afterwards Jason introduced Sean
Olsen (vocals and percussion) and Ill System
was complete. Jason and Sean had previously
been in other bands, but had essentially been
jamming together since high school. Bobby and
Owen shared a similar story. A year later,
David Heidmann joined the band as manager. |
