Everything except Opera, well the music in Opera is OK, but I can't handle that kind of singing. |

Artist History
Jan is originally from the Philadelphia area where he worked as a full-time musician and built and operated Hickman Studio. Jan played in popular Philly bands Willmont Mews, Five Mile Beach, Phantasia, Fresh, Rage, Foxx, Phoenix (Philadelphia B. C. / Philadelphia) and Joey and the Runarounds. To his credit, Jan also played bass on many recording sessions in L. A., New York and Philadelphia, with releases on
the Lifesong Records and Warner Brothers Records labels.
Jan and Hickman Studio are now located in Buckhall, Virginia near Washington, DC. Along with developing guitar skills, Jan has launched the HickmanMusic.com website, home of Jan the Man, Hickman Studio, Hickman Records, Badda Bing Badda Boom, Eric Sanchez and the Herb Brooks Orchestra.
Jan has been working in the studio delicately incorporating the new technology of samplers and sequencers with the acoustic, electronic and electric sounds of now and the last four decades. Playing all the instruments and performing the sequencing, Jan's demos are the product of a true solo effort. Striving to fill his quiver with songs, Jan is planning to add other musicians and make the transformation from an extended studio project to a performance troupe.
During the Fall of 2001, Jan had the pleasure of playing with the Leisure Scientists opening for Jimmy Buffet at Nissan Pavilion near Manassas, Virginia and Jimmy Thackery & the Drivers at the State Theatre in Falls Church, Virginia.
Jan is currently performing with local band Badda Bing Badda Boom, engineering and producing collaborative projects and putting the polish on his own project. Watch the horizon for releases from Jan the Man and other artists on the Hickman Records label.
