    Artist History
Brooklyn's TEAR US APART did not grow up together, nor were they part of any music scene. The band's brief personal history and instant musical chemistry has kept them fresh and fast-moving. In their first year, the band played high-profile shows throughout New York, self-released two EPs and built a fan base with their adrenaline-fueled music. Formed in April 2002 from the ashes of the group Cut-Up (Miller, Stein and Guze), the newly dubbed TEAR US APART convened in a tiny studio to put together a fresh collection of songs, joined by singer Armstrong and guitarist Trout. TEAR US APART made its live debut at a sold-out show at New York's legendary club Brownies, with Taking Back Sunday and Breaking Pangaea. Based on the crowd's reaction, they knew they were onto something. After releasing a three-song EP in summer 2002, the group is following up with IODINE, a five-track disc that includes new material as well as old crowd favorites.

    Press Reviews
The Village Voice: "Compelling local outfit TEAR US APART are tortured in the best kind of post-punk way -- with jagged discordant guitars and an onslaught of drums at the ready to bash those coherent thoughts right out of your otherwise on-straight head. Sweaty and poignant, but with melody!" AOL Digital City New York "Raw like Fugazi but melodic like the Get Up Kids, this is emo-influenced rock that gets in your head. Give them a stab and catch a glimpse of the cutting-edge of the New York rock scene."
