    Artist History
In the Summer of 2001, Steven Wolfe and Keith Kujath of Hattiesburg, MS brought a few original songs together and starting expounding on them. The common interests brought them together again on several occasions. After a few weeks of collaborating, the social and musical fellowship became an idea. The idea officially became a project when Tim Keith, a regional music veteran and former member of The Hounds and The Viewmasters among others was invited to come and play drums. After adding Amy Lott and Patrick Phalen, the project was a band and that band was called Dollar Book Freud. Mike Stokes replaced Phalen on bass guitar and Kujath left the band. During that time, Lott’s skills on the piano started to translate over to other instruments that she had some experience with. Not being at all familiar with contemporary music when the band first started, Amy just did what she was told would sound best. After the lineup changed, the songwriting became a group effort, and Lott was able to utilize her classical training as a clarinetist and flautist along with learning afresh the harmonica. Mike Stokes, who had played in mostly punk rock bands, was now overcoming the learning curve on an upright bass with ease. The band still used many of the same songs in its shows, but the lineup change and addition of other instruments gave the songs a distinctively different feel. The band changed a little and the name changed a little. Dollar Book Floyd was born in June 2002 in Route One Recording Studio while recording their debut album, Red & White. In two days, the band worked diligently to knock out 13 tracks. On the last day of the 2002 calendar, Cary Hudson opened for Dollar Book Floyd at a local restaurant called 206 Front. The show was a great success and a perfect time to debut the new drummer, Robert Delmas. With Delmas, the four-piece is now complete and ready to take over the world......

    Press Reviews
"The group invokes the magic of Tom Waits, Leonard Cohen, Johnny Cash, and a little Nick Cave while creating something of their own." --Jeremy Alexander "American Entertainment Guide" "...a sound that swings and prances, yet meditates and broods in the spaces most bands have overlooked." --Ryan Moore "The Point" "...mellow, but still primitive and hostile."-- J.D. Mark "Oxford Town"
