Artist History
An unlikely name for a band of such crushing hardcore infused with metal technicality, or metal fury mainlined into hardcore beat-downs, the listener may decide which is more fitting. It's immediately understood that uplifted isn't in this to spout hate and violence, to crawl into a corner, cry about a broken childhood and blame everything on society or to pull people into a narcissistic self worship. The stakes are much higher and uplifted will deal you a straight hand while calling you to arms.
Formed in early high school by two friends, Nick Green and Jim Booth, uplifted started with the intention of playing metal wherever they could get it. Drummerless they used a drum machine and were even able to play with Norway's Extol during this time. It was that show where uplifted met their future management in Martin Bailey and LaidBack Productions. They eventually gained a drummer in Jeremy Orris who helped push the band to odd time signatures.
A year later in 1999 their first independently burned CD "obstruct" was received extremely well in the northern Nevada/California scene where uplifted grew out of. The following year it was followed up by yet another independent CD "reflections (& doubts) on past securities", this time professionally pressed with outstanding cover artwork by jaybailey.com. Gaining extremely positive reviews everywhere the CD was sent or listened to, the weekend warrior band played where they could. LaidBack Productions was signed in as management and "reflections..." was sent to many independent radio stations throughout the US and the single "death of self reliance" hit #1, and held for 7 weeks total, on hard radio.
Though since it's inception uplifted always lacked one thing and that was a second guitarist, enter Kris Villines. With a solid lineup they played more heavily wherever they could in the Nevada/California areas even venturing to the Pacific Northwest which led them to reevaluate their roles as a band. They worked towards being as full-time as they could which in turn ended up with uplifted losing founding member Nick Green. He was soon replaced by Matt Lowe, a long time friend, local Reno band aficionado, and one hell of a fisherman.
A 6000 mile, independently funded and booked by their management, Midwest tour was next on the list for 2002 and uplifted answered by searing every ear that heard them. Half of the tour Jim was forced to play bass because of time constraints on Matt's schedule. They didn't lose one ounce of energy on-stage, even gaining the respect of show mates Haste in an Alabama show. When audiences learned of the fact that uplifted was normally a four piece their jaws dropped, the word was officially out that there was new blood in the pool from Nevada. Sadly soon after, uplifted asked Jeremy to step down due to personal issues. A few months later uplifted found a replacement in Mike Orris, no relation oddly enough. Filling the shoes of Jeremy was a hard task to complete but Mike has shown himself to be up to the task at hand at every opportunity.
The future is yet to be seen and uplifted plans on being somewhere, preferably in your town. |
