Press Reviews
Only a few so far. Here's our favorite:
"Here's a juicy new band for Sactown scenesters to enjoy. The Succulents
have arrived to demonstrate that our little town seems to have an
endless capacity for producing cool pop bands.
Don't be suprised if the Succulents look a little familiar too. After all, even
though the band is brand new to the local scene, some of the
components aren't. For example, guitarist Brian Croom is a former
member of Jem & Scout and Section 8. Bassist Joy Stern used
to play with Natalie Cortez & the Ultra Violets, and played
along side Brian in Section 8.
Brian and Joy have now joined forces with drummer Linda Rao. Linda brings an element
that was missing from Section 8: an excellent additional singing
voice, to go along with her solid drumming.
The Succulents' music harkens strongly to The Jesus and Mary Chain, and believe
me, that's a good thing. A damn good thing. In other words, pop
tunes, darkly textured with feedback and distortion. The sort of
thing you might expect David Houston to do if he decided to opt
for a harder sound. Add in a touch of punkiness and you have the
mouth-watering recipe for great music." |
