Press Reviews
THE MUSIC PAPER-Though more likely inspired by a porn mag than the Jefferson Airplane, the name clues the sound: groovy garage rock, sucked througha flange as long as my arm. Its clove flavored bubble gum, like Kim Gordon would chew, then stick beneath a chair so she could neck with Evan Dando. Considering the song writter lived in LA for a while and the drummer went to Berklee, these young fellows seen remarkaly uneffected...unless that itself is an affection. You can't tell these days. (four stars) AQUARIAN(Cathie Coleman)-Got a CD from Plastic Fantastic Lover, a four-piece band from Elmwood Park, NJ. "Kissin' Shanna" kicks off the tape. This one shows me that Louis has connected with a style of music that is really popular now withthe college crowd-a kind of retro jaded "Monkees" sound. Jangly guitars mixed with crunchy ones and an ever present tamborine counter the scratchy vocals but make for a listenable mix. I haven't seen 'em live but the flower power/sex images on their bio is a little at at odds with the clean cut smiley photos. I bet they're a big hit at frat parties.
